Announcing the 2025 Bi+ Writers Fellowship

Elevating underrepresented bi+ voices in mainstream media

Our 2025 Bi+ Writers Fellowship aims to elevate underrepresented bi+ voices in mainstream media. We’re awarding up to nine fellowships to bi+ writers—at any stage of their career—who haven’t yet been widely published. Have a story to tell? A unique perspective to share? We want to help you get published!

  • Fellows participate in a group writing workshop on How to Shift Narrative & Win Change Through Op-ed Publishing, which provides foundational skills in op-ed writing and an opportunity to connect with other bi+ writers and leaders

  • Fellows receive one-on-one mentorship, professional editing, and hands-on support to craft powerful op-eds

  • Fellows receive support in placing up to two op-eds in established media outlets

  • We’re seeking passionate bi+ leaders committed to growth and bold storytelling. We use the term "bi+" to include anyone who has the capacity to experience attraction to more than one gender or who are on the multiple attraction spectrum (M-spec), including people who identify as bisexual, pansexual, omnisexual, plurisexual, biromantic, fluid, queer, another label, or no label at all.

  • We look for intellectual curiosity and a demonstrated commitment to reducing inequality in all forms.

  • While fellows can be at every stage of their career journey, we are looking for fellows who have had less than 5 op-eds published under their name (i.e. byline).

  • We are particularly interested in bi+ leaders who identify as poly or live in non-nuclear families.

  • Fellows may live in any country. They must be 18 years or older, and speak and write in English.

Rewrite the BiLine helped publish 20 articles by 12 bi+ writers in 2024, thanks in part to our partnership with LA Progressive and Hollywood Progressive. These pieces explored race, culture, and identity, bringing much-needed bi+ perspectives to the forefront.

Building on that success, we are expanding our reach in 2025 because bi+ voices deserve greater visibility in the national discourse. Bi+ people make up most of the LGBTQ+ community but are still vastly underrepresented in the news. Less than 7% of LGBTQ+ print news coverage in the last 30 years has focused on bi+ people. We’re changing that—one byline at a time.

Our team has helped nonprofit leaders, academics, and artists publish in The New York Times, Newsweek, Salon, San Francisco Chronicle, Ms. Magazine, Inside Philanthropy, and more. Where will your byline appear next?
